Overview
Once a youth is committed or probated to the Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice, a wide range of programs and services may be accessed.
Private Youth Programs
The Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice utilizes private youth programs provided by private childcare (PCC) providers for specialized populations of committed youth.
Prevention
In order for the Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice to plan for effective delinquency prevention and early intervention, the family, school and community as a whole must be involved in addressing the problems.
Aftercare Services
In an effort to reduce recidivism, the Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice initiated the Intensive Aftercare Program to provide intensive services to youth identified as being at the highest risk of re-offending upon return to the community.
Intensive Supervision
In 1998, the Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice began teaming up with local law enforcement agencies to provide intensive surveillance of delinquency youth.
